Friday Finds: Valentine Hearts

This year time is running swiftly past, (seriously, where is it all going? I have way too much to do with too little time!). The end of January is drawing to close, I'm having a massive half price sale (check out most of my recent posts) and February is quickly descending onto us. With February comes valentines day. A day when couples everywhere get loved up, and celebrate being with each other. So ladies, now is the time to start hinting at the romantic gestures you would like you're other half to make. maybe a home cooked dinner, or how about being whisked away to Paris for a weekend of romance. maybe something simple would make your day, like finally putting up the shelves or hovering the house, while we dream and drool over romantic gifts...

Sew Happy Girls make what every girl wants, a fabulous, unique love heart pendant. We all have a heart necklace of some design (I was wearing one yesterday, complete with matching earrings!). Their felt heart sequined pendant is fabulous, I love the cupids arrow too!

Vintage Chic adoring domestic goddesses everywhere are dreaming of beautiful table cloths. This one, by Iren Garden is perfect for those romantic candle lit dinners for two...

Love Hearts where one of my favourite childhood sweets, (ok they still are, and I may just have some at home...). You can't go wrong with a cute Love Heart message, and here are 6 of them in shot glass format from Toasted Glass, perfect for playing a naughty drinking game!

These intricate quilled heart earrings have been made by the very talented Quill Paper Treasures. I can't stop peeking at her colourful jewellery designs!

Wood Brands customisable photo frame makes the perfect valentines Gift. It's elegant, classy and completely unique, I can just image reframing your favourite wedding day photo as a sweet reminder of many happy years together.

Happy Valentines Day!

Free Chart: Wedding Card

My sister Jessica recently got married to her lovely new husband, Danny after 3 1/2 years together. She asked me to be her bridesmaid, which was lovely of her and I really enjoyed it, (despite the stress of helping plan a wedding, and making sure everything runs smoothly. She tied the knot at Brownsover Hall Hotel, which was an absolutely beautiful setting. The whole day was lovely, (although over to quickly). As she's my favouritist sister in the whole wide world (and my only one) there was no question that I wanted to make her a special wedding card for the big day, which, now that it is all over, I am sharing with you!

I used a dark red and gold for the heart border, and a sparling champagne coloured thread for the champagne glasses. I sued 1 strand of thread for all the stitching, including the backstitch. I stitched this on a 22 count even weave, which gave a finished size of 10.5cm (4") x 15.5cm (6"), perfect for an A4 card. On 14count aida the finished size is 16cm (6.5") x 24cm (9.5"). For techniques on finishing the card, please see my Project Tutorials page. I used the same technique as I did for the embroidered bicycle card but I used gold card instead, with a pearlised red card border. Unfortunately I don't have a photo of the finished card, I didn't get round to making it until a few days before the wedding!

Happy stitching

Jewellery Sale: Cross Stitch Rings

Hooray! I've just accepted an offer for my house. Those of you who have been following my blog for a while may recall that my boyfriend and I broke up at the beginning of the year, and so had to put our house on the market. After several months of lots of viewings, culminating in dropping the price and my parents coming up to help me clear out some things, and making the house look more like a show house the hard work and patience has finally paid off.

That means the hard part starts next, as I will have to find somewhere else to live while having a very short term work contract (currently until the end of September, we'll hopefully have completed the sale in August). Eek! Obviously until I know what's happening with work/ house sale dates I can't actually look for anywhere to move too, but I can start with one very important job. Beginning to have a clear out of all my stuff. I have 2 bags of books and 1 bin bag of clothes to go to charity shops, and a lot of my cross stitch jewellery to sell. (There's no point taking it all with me as I'll probably rent a room in a shared house, so I won't have nearly as much space as I do now). This is good news for you, my dear readers, as it culminates in a JEWELLERY SALE! So, today, I'm going to list several of my cross stitch things for a quick sale on my blog. I will continue to have a 'sale page' with new items on it each week or so, until (hopefully) it's all sold! I have quite a lot of it, so it may take a while.

Today I'm going to start with some of my cross stitch rings. These would normally be £6 each but they are all for sale at half price, only £3 each. UK P+P is via Royal Mail 1st Class Post and is £1.50. I will combine postage for multiple items.

All rings are adjustable so they will fit most finger sizes. The cross stitch design is approximately 1.5cm in diameter. Please take care to not get the rings wet as the colours may run.

If you would like to purchase any of my rings, please email me at yousewshould.gmail.com or leave a comment below with your email address and I will contact you. Matching earrings and in some case pendants or hairclips may also be available, please email me if you are interested in a set.

Thanks for looking, here goes!

These cute heart hairclips and ring will soon be on the way to Nana

Penguin Theory couldn't decide between these lovely little ladybird earrings and ring jewellery set and the gold nautical anchor set, so I'm afraid you will have to now!

And Pixie asked for a random selection from the options, so I'll see if she has a favourite or weather to do another lucky dip of the remaining choices!

Friday Finds: Seaside

I was away last week and spent a few days in Scarborough (you can read about my trip here) and so it seems apt to choose a seaside theme for this weeks Friday Finds. After all,

I do like to be beside the sea side,
I do like to be beside the sea,
I do like stroll along the prom, prom, prom
Where the brass band plays tiddly um pom pom
So just let me be beside the seaside,
I'll be beside myself with glee,
There are lots of girls beside
I should like to be beside
beside the seaside, beside the sea.

That was a song I learnt during music at school, and now every time I go to the seaside I find myself singing that song, because I do like to be beside the seaside.

Once again, there was no shortage of choice on Etsy, so I quickly found a huge range of fantastic items to feature. In no particular order, here are just a few of my favourites.

For those who love a pretty soap, this beautiful seaside soap made by Soapychica is almost too good to use! The hand carved design not only looks like it's straight from the sea, it's fragranced with seaweed and juniper.

For a seaside theme/ beach party check out this colourful nautical bunting. I love the simple yet bold designs, and polka dot fabric. GracesFavours have selected a really cute ribbon too, her attention to detail clearly goes a long way!

The coral colour and patterned imprint of this ring makes me want to go snorkelling, so see if I can spot any starfish amongst the reefs (I've never been snorkelling, but that's how I imagine it, along with lots of exotic fishes!). The bold bright design by damson tree pottery definitely captures my eye!

This felted seascape design is super cute, and is a lovely little piece to brighten up any room. Aisling Dezines used her may talents, including hand felting, crochet and knitting to create this piece.

If you are partial to sailor inspired goodies, then check out this lovely striped anchor tote bag by Claire Mason 82. I love the fabric she's used, and not only is it pretty, it's extremely useful!

Little Cove Cottage is the talent behind these ocean wave gift tags. She has added a touch of vintage inspiration with the soft sand coloured ribbon. They almost look too good to use! Take the time to have a peek at the other lovely gift tags and cards available.

This last item is a little cheeky, as it's my dolphin fridge magnet, but hey, it fits the theme, and he's a happy little chappy who likes showing off!

Happy Browsing!
