Friday Finds: Baking!

I've certainly been spoiled since moving into my new house 2 weeks ago. Between them I've had 3 cupcakes, 2 rock buns, 2 portions of crumble (and more crumble was made yesterday. That's a lot of baking, especially when you take into account that they have both been away for a week!

I'm going to have to do some baking soon! It's been a while, so I'll have to see what I've got and find some time, (I might also have to start doing more exercise so that all these baked goodies don't make me fat!) Are you hungry yet? After perusing these baking goodies you'll want to get busy in the kitchen too!

First things first, we must make sure that you're kitted out properly for baking. Rosie Ann Shop has got that (and you) covered with this adorable child's apron. Little girls everywhere will want to bake just to wear this! Don't worry, she makes aprons for us big girls too!

The next step is to decide what to make. It is pretty likely that you'll need a rolling pin at some point, but why not treat yourself to an extra special one, like this horse one by Pyrographical Dreams. After all, it's not like they wear out!

Now the dough's all roll rolled out you need to choose your cutter. Head to the 3D Printer for a cool selection of cutters, including this sci fi fantasy Dr Who Tardis cutter, and go crazy for cookies!

Cookies not for you? then how about a well loved cupcake? These stripy cupcake cases are really funky, with such a bold and bright design they will be perfect for all sorts of parties. Head over to Peggy Rose Pink for a closer look.

If you are partial to a tasty tart then look no further than LaCroixRosion for these vintage tart cases. The patterned design will make your tarts look really elegant, (and even more delicious)!

Happy baking!

Friday Finds: Gadget Accessories

These days who doesn't have some sort of gadget or gizmo that they couldn't live without. Be it the latest iPhone, iPad, laptop or Kindle, we all have some gadget we just couldn't do without. Whatever did we do before we had the iPhone4 to play with, or a kindle full of exciting reads? Indeed, I am writing this blog post at home on my new laptop. In these technology ridden times we don't have to miss out on the hand made crafty items though, as there are countless laptop cases, iphone covers, and Kindle wallets available. Indeed, there are so many it is almost impossible to choose a favourite, they all come in so many different shapes and sizes, colours, patterns, and materials, that even the most picky of people is guaranteed to find their perfect accessory for their gadget. After having a good old look at countless gorgeous cases and covers, here are just a few to help inspire you and decide which one it is that you want.

This padded laptop case is beautiful. It is a fabulous way to effortlessly give your laptop some fabulous feminine chic. Head over to daisy and bert for more creative laptop covers.

Alternatively, why not decorate your laptop itself, using these funky self adhesive vinyl decals from Edith and Elizabeth.  Whether you are a Darleck loving Dr Who fan or looking for a fairy tale fantasy, they have something for everyone.

Dark Kitty Crafts have used their talents with felt to make this bold Ace of Hearts iphone/ camera/ [insert other] case. The tattoo inspired design manages to look both funky and pretty.

This steam punk design is a fashionable, quirky and most definitely unusual Kindle case. It is made of leather with a pewter design so it is pretty durable,
an important trait in all protective cases. Head over to Loutul for a closer look.

Last but by no means least is this extremely useful gadget and gizmo wallet. With separate partitions to protect your mobile, headphones, USB sticks and SD cards, this is the perfect accessory for the most tech savvy of us. Check out Rockitbot for their many different designs available.

Happy Shopping!

Tardis Keyring Kit Complete!

Hello!

I must say, I am VERY pleased that today so far is a break from the incessant rain we have had here in Sheffield for the past week, I hope it continues!

To celebrate, I am launching my tardis cross stitch keyring kit! In my previous post I talked about designing it, now I have completed one and the full kit (including full colour chart and instructions) is available for only £4.50 on my website.

What do you think of my effort? The photo isn't the best unfortunately, as the keyring reflects the light, but I think it's fairly true to the tardis, and hopefully you can make out the 'POLICE BOX' lettering also. It's now available on my Etsy Shop.

It's stitched onto 14 count Aida (for you non-stitchers that means 14 cross stitches per inch) using DMC embroidery threads. I then glued some backing paper to the reverse of the cross stitch using PVA glue so that the back of the keyring looks pretty too! I managed to find this in my stash, which I thought was very apt for this Dr. Who inspired keyring.

I hope you like it!

In other news, My work colleague Heather has given me Herman, a German friendship  sour dough cake which you grow and add ingredients too, before splitting 4 ways, giving 3 to friends to grow on and baking the Fourth quarter for yourself! I'll take some photo's and let you know how he's growing later in the week!

I'm also busy stitch, stitch, stitching away as I have just received a bulk order, so no new items for a while. Luckily however, I made a few just before the bulk order was confirmed, so Photo's will be coming soon on my facebook page!

Anyway, I'd best get busy...

In Progress... Tardis Keyring Cross Stitch Kit

A friend of mine asked me ages ago to design a Tardis key ring for him. Ashamedly I must admit that I got side tracked by designing my cross stitch jewellery and forgot until we were in the Pub on Friday when he said something along the lines of

'Have you designed a Tardis key ring yet? More people like Dr Who than like Goldfish' (My most recent addition to my website was a Goldfish keyring Kit).

'No...' Came my slightly sheepish reply 'I forgot that I said I would...' (this is a hazard of conversations held over  a few pints of ale, especially given my bad memory!)

So I spent the weekend getting busy digging and sowing (carrots, beetroot, lettuce and garlic) in the garden along with a couple of pubs and darts games (Chris beat me twice, but only on the doubling out - not bad given the unfair disadvantage I have of him being a foot taller and having arms as long-limbed as an Orang-utan), and thought nothing more about my promise.

The rain of this Monday morning has however, brought with it my promise, so in my lunch break at my day job (crafting has to fit around being a cell biologist) I goggled 'Dr Who Tardis' for a good picture to base my design on. what do you think?!

Not an exact copy, but hopefully close enough! What do you think? All that I need to do now is make sure I've got the right colours and stitch it to check that the chart is right! That part will have to wait until tomorrow night, as I'm going beer tasting at Shakespeares tonight for St Georges day. I'll let you know how it goes...

Happy Stitching
