Friday Finds: Farms

Please say that you are also amazed by how quickly the weeks are going by. How is it already time for another Friday Finds! I must confess it has crept up on me after a busy week, so I resorted to my face book page and loyal followers to inspire me for todays post, and I am very happy to report that I was not disappointed. Michelle suggested Sheep as todays theme, however I have previously used Sheep as my theme. She has still inspired me though, sheep are very much a farmed animal, and with the beginning of may new lambs are merrily prancing in the fields, and tractors are busy fertilising and planting. In our agricultural land there is no shortage of beautiful farm inspired items, and here are but a few.

No farm yard is complete without pigs, and House of Ismay have added a literary twist to not only pigs, but many other animals with these quirky brooches made from old copies of books.

This funky farm invitation, courtesy of Sandy Ford Design is personalised for your child, to make their birthday extra special. Check out her shop for other colourful themes.

Farms by default are messy places, and willies are invaluable. but wellies are fantastic at festivals, in the rain, or even walking. make yours stand out from the crowd by knitting your very own welly topper from Wessenden Woolies

The Spice Artist have a wide choice of funny sheep inspired original paintings and prints by Merve. The bold designs draw the eye and spread a smile.

The farm yard inspiration behind Jandee Designs is obvious with this cute tote bag. It makes the perfect useful accessory for the farm fashion conscious country bumpkin.

Happy Shopping!

Friday Finds: Wales

This post theme was requested of me before Easter by my lovely half Welsh friend (who I think sometimes forgets that's she's half English too). I've written an Union Jack Friday Finds previously, so why not a Welsh one too, after all, there is plenty of Welsh blood around (I'm pretty sure everyone I know has a Welsh grandma or something. We're all mongrels in the UK really, especially if you keep going back through our history).

Besides, Wales is a beautiful country. I have spent several holidays and weekends away there in my 26years, staying in Pembrokeshire, Bangor, Aberystwyth and Snowdonia to include but a few. So, it seems right to feature items from/ for such a beautiful country.

The Welsh flag seems to be the right place to start the search, and it wasn't long before I discovered these fabulous cuff links by Urban Eye. These will make the perfect gift for the Welsh Man in your life, and if he isn't Welsh they can customise these to the country of your choice!

There is a certain appeal about real slate place mats, coasters and cheeseboards. I would love to have some of my own, (and will one day). If you're like me and the understand elegance and class makes you excited, then head over to Identilase for a wide choice of Welsh slate. This cheeseboard is engraved with CAWS, which is Welsh for... you've guessed it, Cheese! They also have a website  www.valleymill.co.uk

Cathryn Weatherhead is the lady who created this bold and beautiful traveller's map of Wales. Whether you're an adventurer, a camper, or an explorer this funky Welsh map will not only remind you of your Welsh experiences, it'll have you going back for more!

Another one for the boys (although I don't know why tankards are just for boys, I am a Real Ale drinker and would love one of my own) is this fabulous stainless steel tankard. Makers Celtic Studio have covered plenty of bases here with the Welsh dragon design. Check out their other Welsh and Celtic items too!

If, like me, you go  on holiday and then later on realise that you didn't buy that lovely 'insert souvenir here' that you saw because the shop wasn't open/you were heading out/e.t.c then worry no more. This beautiful original watercolour by Pamela Jones Art Studio  is one of several designs that will bring back fond memories of a lovely sunny walk in Wales (it doesn't rain all the time).

Happy browsing!

Friday Finds: Sheep

It is hard to decide on a theme each week to feature; there's simply so much to choose from! Then there's you to consider, my audience. What are you interested in, and would like to see featured?

last week one of my readers, Michelle asked for a sheep themed blog post. Thank you for making it easier for me. Theme sorted, I then headed over to the Etsy website and searched for sheep. I wasn't expecting 250 pages worth of sheep items! There's literally thousands of things to choose from (18, 928) to be precise. That's a lot of sheep! Unfortunately I couldn't look at all of them without it sending me to sleep, but I managed quite a few pages. I never realised how much choice there is. It was very hard to pick just a few to feature, so here's a very small selection of some of my favourites, but don't stop there, head over to Etsy and find your own!

Bear Creek Design have created this beautiful, fluffy needle felted sheep kit. If you fancy trying out needle felting, you'd be hard-pressed to find a cuter place to start!

If you like pretty things, but prefer them to be practical then take a peek at CeramiqueCote's cute handmade and hand painted plate.

Display your love of sheep to the world with this quirky black sheep t-shirt, available in both men's and women's sizes, from SwitchDesignsNYC.

For a more subtle sheep display, this miniature print pendant could be just for you. Moosup Valley Designs has sealed her original artwork in resin to create this brooch, which can also be worn as a pendant!

Bossy Feltworks has carefully created this lovely needle felted pincushion. I absolutely love it. Useful and pretty, any fellow stitchers can't go wrong with this cute ornament.

If you like personalised gifts, then this name clock by Treasure4u is right up your street. Besides, who can resit a big cheesy grin.

Clay and Yarn Barn have created many delightful sheepy designs, such as these stitch markers. You'll be busy knitting away as an excuse to use them!

Well, that's a lot of sheep, perfect for counting if it's bedtime, but as it's not I'd best stop there. If your eyes aren't drooping yet then head over to Etsy for some more sheep searching...
